Single-lane closures on Volcano Road (Highway 11) for installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Kipimana Street began Tuesday, the state Department of Transportation said in a Tuesday statement.

Working hours on the project near Shipman Business Park are 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, DOT said.

The work includes restriping, signage, and installation of traffic signals. Motorists are advised that the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph at the project location. Please use caution and plan for longer driving times when traveling through the area.

Completion of the project is scheduled for September, weather permitting.
