Statewide COVID totals drop to 642 after updated testing information; no new cases

The statewide total of COVID-19 cases has dropped today as the Department of Health removed several cases based on updated testing information.

No new cases were reported in the state today. The statewide total is now 642, five less than yesterday’s total of 647.

Honolulu remains the site of the highest number of cases, with 414 reported so far. That total was also reduced from yesterday’s total of 416.

Hawaii County now has 81 cases, a drop from yesterday’s total of 82. Of those, 76 have been released from isolation, according to DOH numbers.

The total for Maui County remains the same at 117. Kauai County’s total, however, has dropped from 21 to 20. This marks the first change in Kauai’s total cases in 40 days, as no new cases have been reported on the island for more than a month.

Hawaii’s statewide case total includes 10 residents diagnosed outside the state.

The statewide death toll from coronavirus-related illness remains at 17, with 11 on Oahu and six on Maui. That’s a 2.7% fatality rate for the state.

84 of the cases statewide have required hospitalization.

There have been 585 cases that have been released from isolation, according to DOH.
