Eugene K. Hao, 67, of Keaau died March 25 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. No services. Survived by fiancee, Kerrie Green of Hilo; daughter, Tammy Lynn Keanu of Hilo; brother, William (Donna) Matsu of California; sister, Henrietta Stone of Hilo; nieces and nephews. John “Big John” Thomas Krems, 72, of Ocean View died March 5 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in California, he was a retired U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant. Services at a later date. Survived by son, John M. Krems of Riverside, Calif.; daughter, Christine M. Ruthann Elizabeth Lehmann, 82, of Mountain View died Feb. 17 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Milwaukee, she was a retired retail manager, homemaker and tennis and bingo player. Private services. Survived by husband, Arthur Lehmann of Mountain View; daughters, Kim (Kent) Olsen of Mountain View and Debora (Steve) Pedemonti of Winter Springs, Fla.; sisters, Rose Marie (Sam) Kanter and Rita (Wally) Bartkiewicz of Wisconsin; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruby Leilani Malani, 82, of Hilo died March 25 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hawaii, she was a retired cafeteria worker and member of Haili Church Choir, Laupahoehoe Congregational Church and Alu Like Kupuna Program. Private services held. Survived by son, Clement (Regina) Malani Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Cynthia (Calvin) Malani, Catherine (Todd) Kaide and Carol Malani of Hilo, hanai daughter, Piilani Mahoe of Honolulu; sister, Laverne Sylva of Kona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; cousins. Masato “Cream” Meguro, 94, of Hilo, formerly of Pepeekeo, died March 26 at home. Born in Ninole, he was a retired cane truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and U.S. Army veteran. Patricia “Patsy” Carvalho Silva, 89, of Keaau died March 28 at a private care home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, child care provider, St. Joseph School cafeteria worker, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa and a star basketball player at St. Joseph Schools.
