Don’t be a host

Let’s make this simple to understand.

Viruses, unlike bacteria, are simple creatures searching for a host. They have developed a glycoprotein on their surface that mimics what we call a sugar.

All cells require sugars (glycogen) to enter their cells and nourish them. Viruses have developed an outer shell of glycoproteins that mimic what our cells need for survival.

This deceptive protein opens a door in the cell and quickly takes over normal cell function, prioritizing viral replication, and kills the cells. This causes symptoms.

And because the lungs are moist and rich in oxygen, they make an ideal repository for this aerosolized vector to proliferate and make us sick. And you can’t avoid it if you don’t self-quarantine.

COVID-19 is SARS-02! It’s simple but serious.

Skip the refunds

I called the Merrie Monarch Festival office recently and told them not to bother refunding our ticket.

After that, my wife, Sharon, suggested I write a letter and say it might help them recover some losses if enough people did the same.

We also plan to go to their office and buy stuff! It is a chance to repay some of the pleasure they have given us over the over the past 18 years.

Lack of leadership

As we face the COVID-19 crisis, it is unfortunate that our president, our governor and our mayor all have a style of governance that lacks leadership, vision and clarity.

The Chinese Red Cross criticized the Italian government’s response to the virus as not being aggressive enough to stem the rise of incidents. By having politicians instead of leaders at the helm, do we share the same fate as the Italians as we face this crisis?

Our politicians’ egos are more of a priority than the well-being of their constituency. In the future, let us elect leaders to guide us through the bad times as well as the good.

Stop stealing

I hope you help people who are stealing things from Macy’s store and other public places and are on drugs.

Maybe drug classes to help people who are addicted? Help them to stop stealing things.

Thanks for your cooperation.
