The Lyman Museum and Mission House are closed to the public until further notice because of the continuing COVID-19 emergency. The facilities will reopen as soon as medical guidelines say it is safe.
The Ni‘ihau shell workshops, offered by kumu Kele Kanahele at the museum and previously scheduled for the month of April, were rescheduled for June. The General Membership Meeting of the American Legion Post 3 Hilo originally slated for April 2 at Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home in Hilo is canceled. Should COVID-19 conditions improve, the post’s next scheduled meeting will be at 4 p.m. May 7 at the veterans home patio area.
Keep in mind that 2020-21 nominations are now open for commander, first vice commander, second vice commander, adjutant, chaplain, finance officer, assistant finance officer, sergeant-at-arms, judge advocate, historian and executive and standing committees. Nominations will be accepted through May 1 via email at pointman_jeno@msn.com or by calling 542-8666.
All voting members, including nominees, must be present at the May 7 meeting to make their votes count. Open nominations from the floor will be accepted prior to voting during the meeting.
