Police Chief Paul Ferreira announced three promotions, two employees from the rank of lieutenant to captain and one from captain to major, effective Monday.

Thomas Shopay, a 20-year veteran, was promoted to captain and assigned to the Kona Criminal Investigation Division. He formerly commanded the Criminal Investigation Section and previously worked on the Special Response Team, Kona Vice Section (Kona) and Kona Patrol Division.

Regino Saludares, a 22-year veteran, was promoted to captain and assigned to the Hamakua Patrol Division. He formerly commanded the CALEA (accreditation) section and previously worked in the Hilo Criminal Investigation Division and South Hilo Patrol Division.

Kenneth Quiocho, a 27-year veteran, was promoted to major and assigned to the Hilo Field Operations Division. He formerly commanded the South Hilo Patrol Division and previously worked in the Puna and Ka‘u patrol divisions, CALEA (accreditation), South Kohala Patrol Division, Hilo Vice Section and Hamakua Patrol Division.
