BIIF: Kamehameha coasts at Honokaa in baseball opener

Kamehameha’s baseball team didn’t have to work too long Wednesday in its BIIF opener.

Hanalei Warren batted 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Zakaia Michaels and Keahi Hisashima each were 2 for 3 with two RBIs as the Warriors won at Honokaa 19-1 in four innings.

Michaels pitched two shutout innings for the win at the Dragons field. Makana Carbonel-Mangus finished up with two innings of one-run relief.

Kaizen Kapni-Lankford had three RBIs while Keaton McCallum and Jonah Reich added two RBIs each.

Joaquin Aiden pitched 1 2/3 innings and took the loss for the Dragons (1-1).

Softball

Kohala 22, HPA 6: Jaylah Kekoa struck out five in a four-inning TKO in Kapaau and collected three hits and three RBIs, and Danyka Cazimero-Roxburgh scored four runs with two hits and an RBI as the Cowgirls improved to 2-0.

Pili Kaai drove in three runs and scored twice with two hits, and Ayezha Isabel finished with two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Kekoa allowed five hits, including a two-run home run by Ellie DeRego. Kina’u Grace struck out two and took the loss for HPA (1-1).

Hilo 32, Keaau 16: The visiting Vikings (1-1) won in five innings and Hauoli Kalipi earned the win. She walked four and struck out five and gave up seven hits.

Kiana Agpalza had two hits and four walks, Kalipi had two hits and four walks, Makana Huddleston had two hits, Angie Wright had four hits, and Caneel “Booboo” Corpuz had two hits for the Vikings.

The Cougars fell to 0-2.

Konawaena 15, Ka’u 9: Jayla Medeiros clubbed two homers and Hanalalai Acasio hit a homer and had three RBIs to lead the Wildcats (1-1) in Kealakekua.

Pualani Ken batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Kassidy Ferris had three RBIs.

Acasio pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs for the win.

Cece Silva-Kamei went 4 2/3 innings and took the complete-game loss for the Trojans (0-1).

Kealakehe at Waiakea: The game was suspended by rain in the fourth inning, so the contest with be made up in its entirety at 3 p.m. Thursday at Waiakea.
