Valerie Alvarado • softball

When the UH-Hilo senior right-hander took to the circle last week in Kailua-Kona, goose eggs were in vogue.

Alvarado shut down No. 8 Concordia in two victories, pitching 12 scoreless innings without allowing a walk and yielding only six hits.

The performance Alvarado would like to duplicate the remainder of season came Thursday in a two-hit shutout.
