Hawaii County opens call center to answer questions about coronavirus

Hawaii County has opened a call center to answer questions about novel coronavirus, and the community is encouraged to call in to get the most up-to-date and accurate information about the virus.

The call center in Hilo is taking calls 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 days a week. Please call 935-0031 with your questions about the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID 19.

Callers will be advised about practicing good hygiene such as frequent washing of hands, good cough and sneeze etiquette and staying home when sick. Callers who report feeling sick are advised to contact their doctor or primary care provider.

Callers can receive information about the status of coronavirus, the status of any closures or cancellation of events and related subjects.

For more detailed questions, callers will be directed to go to the State Department of Health website at health.hawaii.gov and the County Civil Defense Agency website at www.hawaiicounty.gov (Click on Departments, Civil Defense).
