The first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Hawaii, Gov. David Ige said today.

An Oahu resident who traveled on the Grand Princess cruise ship, disembarked in Mexico before returning home.

A number of passengers on a cruise aboard the Grand Princess — which sailed from San Francisco to Mexico Feb. 11-21, but not to Hawaii — tested positive for COVID-19.

State health officials said the individual was on this cruise, and that the patient remains at home and is doing well.

A subsequent cruise aboard the Grand Princess visited four stops in Hawaii, including Hilo on Feb. 29.

Two passengers and 19 crew members aboard that Hawaii cruise have tested positive for COVID-19.
