Francine “Fran” “Frankie” Tomoe Fukuhara Aguiar, 64 of Hilo died Jan. 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was an educational assistant for Hilo Union School and a member of Hawaii Government Employees Association. Celebration of life 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday (March 7) at Papaikou Hongwanji Multi-Purpose Hall. Aloha attire. Geraldine “Gerri” M. Carvalho, 83, of Kalopa died Feb. 15 at home. Born in Honokaa, she was retired from the Hilo Post Office and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Portuguese Cultural Club, AARP and National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (March 7) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kalopa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. Elaine Kawehi Hauanio, 78, of Pahoa died Feb. 9 at home. Kenneth Keala Kaniho, 73, of Laupahoehoe died Jan. 31 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired harvesting superintendent for the former Hamakua Sugar. Co., owner/manager of Triple K Ranch in Waimea, construction worker, Hawaii Army National Guard veteran and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honomu Branch. Jeffrey Campbell Smith, 57, of Kurtistown died Dec. 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a macadamia nut farmer with a lifelong love of plants.
