In response to recent Coronavirus developments, representatives of the state Judiciary have been working directly with the Department of Health about appropriate precautionary measures, according to a Judiciary statement on Thursday.
If you have traveled from China within the past 14 days, and you won’t be cleared to resume normal activities before you are required to report to court for your case, jury duty, or any court services in the 3rd Circuit (Hawaii Island), please call 961-7440.
Upon verification by the Department of Health of your self-monitoring status, your matter may be handled in an alternative manner or postponed by a judge until you are cleared to appear.
“The Judiciary is making this announcement in an abundance of caution,” said Rodney Maile, administrative director of the courts. “We realize that people with required court dates, jury duty summons, or other time-sensitive court business may be concerned about not meeting required deadlines because of the obligation imposed by self-monitoring. Additionally, we want to be able to provide a safe and healthy environment for all court users and staff.”
