Hawaii Prep claimed its fourth boys state soccer championship in five seasons Saturday, but they weren’t the only Big Island team to finish with a bang at Oahu’s Waipio Penisula Soccer Complex.

In Division I, BIIF champion Waiakea matched it highest finish in 21 years with a 5-4 victory against Kalani in the third-place match. Seniors John Grover and Kai Biegler each scored twice and Chase Kotomori also had a goal.

Seniors Biegler and Grover scored four goals apiece in being named to the all-tournament team.

“Boys peaked and fought hard,” Warriors coach David Urakami said. “Proud of them, (they) revived our soccer program. Especially proud of John and Kai for making the all-tournament team.”

The most outstanding player was Punahou’s Jacob Moore after the top-seeded Buffanblu beat Mililani 3-2 to repeat.

In Division II, Kamehameha also finished third, beating Seabury Hall 4-0 behind goals by Cuinn Cariaga, Poikeao Roback, Buddy Betts and Kanaka Kuamoo-Quihano.

HPA senior Conor Hunt was selected the most outstanding player, and seven BIIF players were named to the 11-member all-tournament team: Noah Condon, Grayson Phillips, Danny Vidal Gayoso and goalkeeper Zane Willman joined Hunt from Ka Makani, and Logan Waltjen and Cariaga were selected from the Warriors.

In the fifth-place match, Makua Lani and Pac-5 played to a scoreless draw.
