Autopsy: Homeless man’s death a suicide

According to police, an autopsy conducted Tuesday on the body of a 28-year-old homeless man found Feb. 13 on the bank of the Wailuku River in Hilo concluded the death was a suicide.

The pathologist determined that 28-year-old Isaac Wessel Riveira hanged himself, a police statement said.

Police took 32-year-old Westen Kamuela Tegman of Hilo into custody for questioning on Friday and later released him.

In light of the autopsy findings, Tegman has been cleared and, there are no pending criminal charges against him, police said.
