Police said this morning they’re investigating the discovery Friday night of a body in Hilo.

A police dispatch said they had closed Wailuku Drive by Wainaku and Keawe streets this morning so detectives could search for clues in the area where the body was found at about 8:50 p.m. Friday.

Police said they were withholding identification pending notification of next of kin. They didn’t disclose the gender of the decedent nor did they say if foul play is suspected.

They did, however, say “the discovery is not related into the investigation into the disappearance of Megan Funderburk,” and added the search for Funderburk, who disappeared on Feb. 9 near Wainaku Scenic Point north of Hilo, continues.
