Kulani Correctional Facility and Hawaii Community Correctional Center both have new wardens.
According to a Friday statement from the Department of Public Safety, Wanda Craig is now warden at Kulani, a minimum-security prison on the slopes of Mauna Loa about 20 miles southwest of Hilo,
The new HCCC warden is Cramer Mahoe.
“These managers have extensive experience in corrections and criminal justice,” said Public Safety Deputy Director for Corrections Shari Kimoto. “I believe their wealth of knowledge will lend to their leadership in their newly assigned roles.”
Craig began her career with the department in 1994 as a corrections officer at the Women’s Community Correctional Center on Oahu and worked her way up the ranks to a Captain at Halawa Correctional Facility. She has served as acting warden at KCF since January 2016.
Mahoe got his start in the department in June 1997 as a correctional officer at Maui Community Correctional Center. He transferred to HCCC in July 1998 and worked his way up to chief of security in July 2016.
He became the acting warden at HCCC in January following the retirement of Peter Cabreros.
