Rick Taylor Reppe, also known as Rik Taylor, 75, of Holualoa died Jan. 5 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hollywood, Calif., he was a graduate of University of Southern California with a degree in economics, a self-taught sailor, sailmaker and 1984 Olympian who founded Taylor Made Sails, worked in various Kona banks, served as YMCA director, owned a coffee farm, appraised real estate and was a recreation interventionist and alaka‘i at Kealakehe Elementary School. Services 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at at ‘Ai‘opio Fishtrap in Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, where he volunteered. Survived by daughter, Maianna Taylor of Holualoa.
