David John “DJ” Clark, 64, of Mercer Island, Wash., died Jan. 21 at home. Born in Hilo, he spent four decades in the paint industry, grew up on Kauai and the Big Island, attended Hawaii Preparatory Academy and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1974 before moving to California for college. Celebration of life 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. No flowers. Albert “Bully Boy” Kahiwahiwaokalani Haa Jr., 66, of Hilo died Jan. 31 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired Hawaii County Police Department officer. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Hugh Arthur Fleming, 84, of Mountain View Dec. 26 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Raton, N.M., he was a retired gemologist, pilot, owner of the former Lafayette &Spectrum Electronics, employee of the former JHE Communications and the former Hamakua Sugar Co., and fisherman who set multiple records. Celebration of life service 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Spoonful Café, 16-569 Old Volcano Rd. in Keaau. Casual attire. Arlene “Lea” Victoria McClure, 93, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 7 at home. Born in Denver, she was a retired educator, artist, dancer, member of Writers and Artists Group and author of the children’s book “There’s a Worm in the Apple.” Private service at a later date. Earl Robert Nobriga, 89, of Hilo died Jan. 30 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired field hand for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 19) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 20) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rick Taylor Reppe, also known as Rik Taylor, 75, of Holualoa died Jan. 5 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hollywood, Calif., he was a graduate of University of Southern California with a degree in economics, a self-taught sailor, sailmaker and 1984 Olympian who founded Taylor Made Sails, worked in various Kona banks, served as YMCA director, owned a coffee farm, appraised real estate and was a recreation interventionist and alaka‘i at Kealakehe Elementary School. Services 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at at ‘Ai‘opio Fishtrap in Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, where he volunteered. Survived by daughter, Maianna Taylor of Holualoa.
