Rotary Club hosts special public meeting on coronavirus

East Hawaii Rotary clubs will sponsor a special presentation from Jason Dela Cruz, state Department of Health education specialist, regarding the worldwide concern over the outbreak of a new coronavirus.

The rapidly advancing virus has brought travel to China to a virtual standstill, while new cases and deaths continue to multiply daily. Also in attendance with be Chad Shibuya, director of infection control and prevention for Hilo Medical Center, and Arthur Sampanga Jr., chief nursing officer for HMC.

Both men were quoted in a recent Tribune-Herald article regarding the local efforts to keep the spread of the virus under control.

The meeting is free and open to the public and takes place at the Queen’s Court Restaurant inside the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

This is the regular meeting time for the Rotary Club of South Hilo, so lunch will be available for purchase off the restaurant menu.
