Cecilia Nina Brooks, 89, of Keaau died Nov. 8 at home. Born in Mount Hood, Ore., she was a retired warranty clerk. No services. Survived by son, Charles (Barbara) Anderson of Arkansas; daughters, LeeAnn (Alan) Biddix of Keaau and Cheryl Devers of Colorado; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Socima “Suzie” Emily Guzman, 79, of Paauilo, formerly of Aliamanu, Oahu, died Jan. 19 in Kaneohe, Oahu. Born in Hilo, she grew up in Ewa Beach, Oahu, graduated from Waipahu High School. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel in Honolulu. Services at 10:30 a.m. Burial 2 p.m. at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu. Marvin Kalani Medeiros, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 13 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Kaohe, South Kona, he was a maintenance man at Hawaii Community College in Kealakekua, Palamanui Community College and Regency at Hualalai, a ranch hand at Hoomau, Kaimalino and Parker ranches, bartender at the former Kona Hilton and former Kona Surf hotels, and member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Visitation 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by hanai son, Patrick (Monique Gouveia) Enos Jr. of Keokea; brothers, Clarence (Shirley) Medeiros and Jesse (Tammy) Medeiros of Keokea; sisters, Rosemary Medeiros of Las Vegas, Clarice Medeiros of Honalo and Dorothy Puaala; a hanai granddaughter; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. John Michael “Mike” Middlesworth, 81, of Hilo died Jan. 14 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in El Paso, Texas he was a retired business editor for the former Honolulu Advertiser, previously served as the paper’s managing editor, global newspaper technology consultant, worked for newspapers in Illinois and Indiana, was vice chairman of Hawaii Judicial Selection Commission, former member of East Hawaii Regional Board of Hawaii Health Systems Corp., avid golfer and U.S. Army veteran. Private celebration of life. Survived by wife, Barbara Hastings of Hilo; daughters, Andrea (Heath) Farleigh and Cara Middlesworth of Kailua, Oahu; son, Chad (Akiko) Middlesworth of Waikiki, Oahu; four grandchildren.
