WikiFRESH Tropical Fusion Restaurant’s last day of operation will be Jan. 31, according to a Friday post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Managing partner Jan De Luz wrote closing the restaurant at the corner of Kilauea Avenue and Kekuanaoa Street — once the showroom of the former Hilo Motors, later Hawaii Motors and Island Chevrolet — “was a difficult decision to make,” but her grown children and six grandchildren live in Florida, and she wants to see them regularly.
De Luz thanked the restaurant’s “thousands of guests who have supported our brand from August 2015 till now” plus her son, Ian Whiteside, her business partner, attorney Peter Kubota, manager Cappi Winters, kitchen manager Carolyn Daquep and the restaurant’s vendors “who have supported our concept from the first day we opened our doors.”
“Mahalo nui to our dedicated WikiFRESH team who makes everything from scratch every day and serves it with aloha,” De Luz wrote.
