Leona Lynne Balucan Basque, 57, of Kealakekua died Dec. 19 at her family’s home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a dental assistant for Hawaii Family Dental, owner of Pure Kona Green Markets and travel agent with Gone Again Travel. Ruby Acosta Javar, 79, of Pahala died Jan. 7, in Kansas. Born in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a retired utility operator for the former Pahala sugar plantation and member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
