Mountain View man charged with robbery, burglary

Police have charged a 33-year-old Mountain View man with robbery and other offenses stemming from an incident at a business in Pahoa village late Sunday morning.

Talatonu Schuster is charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and second-degree criminal property damage.

According to police, officers responded Sunday morning to a report of a disorderly man causing a disturbance outside Pahoa Village Road business. A store employee asked the man to calm down and leave the area, but the man advanced toward the store employee, who locked himself inside the business establishment.

The disorderly man then forcefully broke into the store, threatened the employee and caused damage to the store’s merchandise. police said.

Schuster’s bail has been set at $45,000 and he remains in police custody pending his initial court appearance, scheduled for today in Hilo District Court.
