One by one Hawaii Preparatory Academy keeps taking down the league’s top contenders.
In a battle of unbeaten, Ka Makani blanked Konawaena 3-0 in a BIIF girls soccer game on Wednesday in Waimea.
Angela Cipriano scored 11 minutes in, Bella Police scored at the 45-minute mark off an assist from Malia Brost, an Cipriano scored again at the 62-minute-mark off an assist from Riley Sohriakoff.
The Division II Ka Makani (8-0) have already beaten Hilo (3-1), Kamehameha (4-0) and Kealakehe (3-1).
HPA goalie Maia Mills posted the shutout against the Division I and defending BIIF champion Wildcats (8-1).
“Great team win today,” HPA coach Stephen Perry said. “We had everyone working together today. After losing Ruby Helmuth (center back) to injury after 17 minutes, I was happy to see the team adjust and cover for the needed rotation.
“Kahele Walsh and Jordan Perry did a wonderful job covering the backline throughout. Angela gave us great energy up front, which rubs off on many teammates.”
HPA’s defense was able to neutralize Konawaena’s counterattacks and slow fleet-footed junior Jadyn Hanks.
“Konawaena is very dangerous with their speed on attack,” Perry said. “It was nice to see the results. Maia Mills in goal made two huge saves early in the second half.”
Ka Makani officially locked down the outright regular season Division II title and the automatic state berth that goes with it.
Despite the loss, Konawaena is in great shape to do the same in D-I.

Conor Hunt, Mason Hunt, Dominick DiDonato, Jack Jeremiah and Daniel Vidal Gayoso each found the back of the net, and Zane Willman collected the shutout against the Wildcats (2-6).
