Make your holiday season more festive and meaningful by learning how to make a beautiful, authentic native wreath during a workshop from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo.
The workshop is loaded with great information about subjects including rapid ohia death/decontamination protocol, areas where foliage picking is allowed on Hawaii Island, permits needed prior to picking and the permitting process. The class also includes an educational field trip to gather needed materials, lessons on how to identify native plants used to make wreaths, how to collect native plant foliage sustainably, explanations of materials, how to enjoy the beautiful forest in your “backyard” and much more.
Sign up for this fun, learning experience, enjoy Sky Garden’s full spread lunch buffet and create a beautiful 10-inch wreath using a colorful array of native plants in the comfortable settings of ‘Imiloa.
Cost to attend the workshop is $75 for ‘Imiloa members or $100 for non-members. The fee includes transportation, lunch, snacks and wreath.
