One person is dead following a two-car accident on Kuakini Highway this morning, police said.
Kuakini Highway between Kamehameha III Road and Laaloa Street remains closed due to the 5:45 a.m. crash.
Police on scene said a north-bound Kia driven by a female reportedly crossed the centerline and hit an Lexus SUV head-on. The female Kia driver died, police said. An infant was in the Kia and taken to Kona Community Hospital, as was the driver of the SUV.
The road will remain closed until further notice, the department said.
