In the spirit of giving, Hilo’s Teapresso Bar is offering an exclusive HUGS Iced Tea to support HUGS (Help, Understanding and Group Support), a local nonprofit organization that assists Hawaii families with a seriously ill child.

A refreshing blend of hibiscus and lychee, $1 of each HUGS Iced Tea sold now through Dec. 31 will be donated to the organization.

On the Big Island, HUGS supports 45 families who have a child with a life-threatening illness or condition that includes cancer, heart issues, kidney or liver ailment or a chromosomal defect. HUGS assists these families with emergency airfare when a child needs lifesaving medical treatment on Oahu or the mainland, onetime stipends for hospitalization expenses on Oahu, hospital visits while on Oahu, Christmas toys and annual events that bring together families facing the challenges of childhood illness.

In September, Clinical Labs of Hawaii sponsored a picnic at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo for HUGS families.

Teapresso Hilo joins other participating locations on Oahu in this promotion that also includes matching donations.

Since 1982, HUGS has helped thousands of families with a seriously ill child throughout the state.
