Hawaii Volcanoes National Park announces the upcoming flight plans for November:

• Between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Nov. 5 to transport camp equipment in Olaa between 3,000- and 4,000-foot elevation.

• Between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 5 to transport gear from Kealakomo pullout to the Naulu/Kalapana Trail intersection.

• Between 9 and 11 a.m. Nov. 5 to haul fence material along Mauna Loa Road between 5,000- and 6,000-foot elevation.

• Between 8 a.m. and noon Nov. 6 for invasive banana poka control on Mauna Loa Road between 5,000- and 6,000-foot elevation.

• Between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Nov. 7 to transport camp equipment in Olaa between 3,000- and 4,000-foot elevation.

• Between 10 and 11 a.m. Nov. 7 to transport gear from Naulu/Kalapana trail head to the Mauna Ulu helicopter spot.

• Between 7 a.m. and noon Nov. 25 for petrel monitoring on Mauna Loa, between 8,000- and 9,000-foot elevation.

• Between 8 a.m. and noon Nov. 25 to control invasive fountain grass from coastal areas to the southwest boundary below 3,000-foot elevation.

• Between 6 and 9 a.m. Nov 26 for ungulate surveys and control work in Kahuku between 3,000-ft. and 7,000-foot elevation.

• Between 8 a.m. and noon Nov. 26 to control invasive fountain grass in the Great Crack area below 1,000-foot elevation.

The park regrets any noise impact to residents and visitors. Dates and times are subject to change based on aircraft availability and weather.

Management of the park requires the use of aircraft to monitor and research volcanic activity, conduct search-and-rescue missions and law enforcement operations, support management of natural and cultural resources and maintain backcountry facilities.
