Kona District Judge Margaret Masunaga, kneeling, with Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, right, and Bruyere, France, Mayor Yves Bonjean pay their respects Monday at the EpinalAmerican Cemetery and Memorial honoring the 100th Battalion/442nd Regimental Combat Team soldiers buried in France. Those perished include Teruo Fujioka, Yoshio Tengwan, Tomosu Hirahara, George Suyama, Bob Kameoka, Joseph Byre, Edward Ogawa, Mitsulu Miyoko, Minoru Yoshida, Hachiro Mukai, Uetaro Sanmonji, Ben Rogers and Hideo Yasui.

The dignitaries were gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the towns of Bruyeres, Biffontaine and Belmont and the freeing of the Texas Lost Battalion during the final days of World War II.
