The high temperature at Hilo International Airport was 88 degrees Saturday, tying a record for high temperature on Oct. 5 set in 2015.

It was the fifth high temperature record in Hilo for this fall, following a summer where 16 high temperature records were tied or broken, largely due to higher-than-normal ocean surface temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
