Celebrate the first chill of autumn with Jazz in the Forest

Fall into the season during Jazz in the Forest: Autumn Leaves at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.

Jean Pierre Thoma and The Jazztones, featuring Jeannine Guillory-Kane, will delight audience members with music perfect to celebrate the chill of fall.

Thoma is a world-traveled professional musician with experience throughout America, France, Japan, India and Israel. He has been a member of numerous jazz and classical ensembles. Not only is he is the leader of The Jazztones, he also is a member of the Royal Kona Harp Ensemble and Volcano Trio. He is a performer at Holy Cross Church and a pianist at restaurants and charity performances, among other musical groups and venues. Now a music teacher at the Pacific Academy of Music and Kukuau Studio, he lives in Hilo.

Guillory-Kane is an acclaimed vocalist in jazz, reggae, pop and rhythm and blues, who lends to a strong, versatile sound and energy that gets her audiences and peers alike to stand up and applaud her voice and on-stage presence.

“I have had the privilege to work with Jeannine on several different settings and she is certainly one of the finest vocalists you will hear anywhere!!” said Jr. Volcano Choy in 2015.

Guillory-Kane has performed at venues around the world including stops in Europe, South America and the United States. She also was chosen as the “Diva of Jazz” in Hawaii. Tickets for Jazz in the Forest are $20 for VAC members or $25 for non-members. Ticketholders will be able to purchase beer, wine and pupus. Tickets are available for sale online at www.volcanoartcenter.org or at VAC’s administration office in Volcano Village and VAC Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The last day to purchase tickets online is Friday, Oct. 11.

Tickets will be sold at the door, if available.
