Eddie Gorospe Fernandez, 50, of Keaau died Aug. 31 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a painter and carpenter for Nicholas Construction. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Dodo Mortuary chapel. George Albert Wilkins, 87, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 27 at home. Born in Portland, Ore., he was a civilian physicist for the U.S. Navy, senior scientist consultant for University of Hawaii Institute of Geophysics, vice chair of the NAACP and served on the Hawaii Governor’s Task Force on Oceans, Sea Grant Advisory Board and Advisory Committee for the Board of Water Supply.
