Chieko “Clara” Okano, 92, of Volcano died July 30 at home. Born Sept. 4 in Kurtistown, she was a retired waitress for Volcano House. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Guy (Stacey) Okano of Keaau and Glenn Okano of Volcano; brother-in-law, Charles Okano of Keaau; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Robert Allen Snyder, 77, of Volcano died on Aug. 26. No known survivors. Family members are asked to call Ballard Family Mortuary (808) 935-8445.

Vicki M. Stoddard, 66, of Hilo died Aug. 27 at home. Born in California, she earned a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, worked for the Hawaii Department of Health and did textile design with emphasis on indigo dyeing. Memorial service at a later date. Survived by husband, Donald Stoddard; brother, Wade Morein of Honolulu; sister, Marla Skibbins of Sea Ranch, Calif.

Kamaka Yamamoto, 80, of Hilo died Aug. 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kapaau, he was a security guard for Securitas and U.S. Navy veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 6) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Brenda (Larry) Akimseu of Hilo, Theresa (Ivan) Aila of Oahu, Diane Yamamoto, Debra (Ernest) Yamamoto-Dias and Kimberly (Mark) Takemoto of Hilo, Stephanie (William) DeloSantos of Mountain View; brothers, William (Mildred) Yamamoto of Hilo and Manuel (June) Yamamoto of Kohala; sisters-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto of Kohala, Hanako Yamamoto of Keaau and Rosemarie Yamamoto of Arizona; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins.
