The STARS annual Remembrance Luncheon is slated for noon-2 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Aupuni Center Conference Room in Hilo.

Members of the STARS group, YWCA, the county prosecuting attorney’s office and others will honor families who lost loved ones during the annual event.

STARS (Surviving to Thriving: Advocacy Resources and Support) is a group of people who experienced the loss of loved ones to homicide. The group wants to help make the grieving and healing process more manageable. It is members’ mission to help guide others through the process of not only surviving in the wake of homicide but once again be thriving, productive community members.

The group knows it’s possible because its members took the same journey.

Anyone interested in supporting the luncheon financially can make tax-deductible checks payable to the YWCA, noting “STARS” in the memo line.

All supporters will be listed in the Remembrance Luncheon program.
