The state Department of Taxation announced that registration is still open for its 2019 tax workshops.

Recently appointed director Rona M. Suzuki will give opening remarks. Additionally, speakers from the department will present information on topics including an update on administrative rules, tax law changes that occurred during the 2019 legislative session and a special presentation about the department’s revenue protection measures.

The Internal Revenue Service’s local taxpayer advocate also will participate as a guest speaker and present information about federal tax topics.

“I am excited to meet the tax community at the department’s annual workshops,” Suzuki said. “The tax workshops provide a valuable opportunity for the community to engage with the department and learn about upcoming initiatives and changes that affect their industry.”

All workshops are scheduled for 8:30-11:30 a.m., with sign-in beginning at 8 a.m.

The cost to attend is $90 for people who submit their registration and payment by the registration deadline. Late registrations are $110 per person.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted at the door.

The cost includes a continental breakfast, workshop materials and three CPE credit hours for the Hawaii Board of Public Accountancy. Workshop materials may be separately purchased for $25 per set.

Workshops are being hosted in partnership with the continuing education programs at Leeward Community College, Hawaii Community College, Kauai Community College and Maui College.

Online registration can be completed through each of the college’s websites or by mail.
