Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald is seeking public comment on judicial nominees for a district court vacancy on Hawaii Island.
The names submitted for this vacancy by the Judicial Selection Commission, in alphabetical order, are:
• Paul K. Hamano is currently employed at Paul K. Hamano, Attorney at Law. He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1985.
• Jeffrey A. Hawk is currently employed at the Law Office of Jeffrey A. Hawk and serves as a per diem judge in the district and district family courts on Hawaii Island. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1997.
• William B. Heflin is currently employed at Alcain Naniole & Heflin. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2001.
• Peter K. Kubota is currently employed at Peter K. Kubota, Attorney at Law. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1989.
• Jeffrey W.S. Ng is currently employed as a deputy public defender. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2002.
• Alvin P.K. Nishimura is currently employed at Alvin Nishimura, Attorney at Law, and serves as a district court per diem judge in Honolulu. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1985.
