The state Department of Health on Friday issued a formal notice to proceed to Lau Ola LLC, doing business as Big Island Grown Dispensaries, for its third licensed medical cannabis dispensary retail center after passing its final on-site inspection.

The company’s third retail center is located at 74-5617 Pawai Place in Kailua-Kona.

Big Island Grown opened its first retail location in Hilo in January and second location in March in Waimea.

There are now 11 licensed retail dispensary locations operating throughout the state.

According to the DOH, there are more than 26,000 patients and more than 2,000 caregivers registered statewide. Nearly 30% of these patients and 22% of the caregivers reside on the Big Island.
