Big Island student graduates from University of Utah

The University of Utah in Salt Lake City conferred academic degrees to 8,465 students on May 2. Among the graduates was Jessie Thomas of Hilo, who graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in international studies.

Hilo students graduate from Pacific University

The following students from Hilo graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., from January through June:

• Riana Arima with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

• Shavonne Demattos (cum laude) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

• Marissa Hayashi with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

• Valerie-Lee Howland with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

• Dylan Ito (cum laude) with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

• Tia Uehara (summa cum laude) with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
