There was a second day of searching Sunday for a swimmer who was reported missing early Saturday evening in waters off Green Sands Beach in Ka‘u.

The Coast Guard was expected to join search efforts on Sunday for the man, who is reportedly in his 20s.

Six units, including a county helicopter, plus a Hawaii Police Department officer, responded to the 5:59 p.m. alarm Saturday, according to a Hawaii Fire Department statement.

The aerial search was suspended at dusk while the shoreline search continued.

There was no word by deadline Sunday if the swimmer had been found.
