Quinn Waiki • baseball

It’s not uncommon for female players to make PONY League baseball All-Star teams, but Waiki’s impact was beyond that of any other girl on the five Hilo Broncos state championship teams dating back to 2011.

She fit right in, whether at the plate, on the mound or behind the plate.

Waiki, who recently finished seventh grade at Ka Umeke Ka’eo, pitched in all three of Hilo’s victories, closing out the final two in impressive fashion, including Tuesday’s championship game.
