Philander Phillip Aganus, 83, of Waimea died June 4 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Paauhau, he was a journeyman diesel and automotive mechanic for the former Paauhau/Hamakua Sugar Co., retired maintenance manager for Hawaii Affordable Properties, U.S. Army veteran, Honokaa High School and Elementary School class of 1954 alum, University of Hawaii at Manoa Rainbows student-athlete, member of numerous AJA and community baseball and softball teams, Big Island Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, past president of Honokaa Athletic Association and member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea. Eulogy at 5:30 p.m. Mass at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Urn committal service and burial with military honors noon Thursday, June 20, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
