Marshall named to dean’s list

Thelma Marshall of Hilo, HI, has been named to the 2019 spring semester dean’s list at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D.

At the end of each regular semester, Dickinson State honors those students named to the dean’s list. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time and must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Simpson College showcases undergraduate research

Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, showcased its students’ undergraduate research and creativity on April 25. Work by Big Island residents Genevieve Block of Keaau and Lauren Villafuerte of Paauilo was part of the showcase.

Castillo of earns graduate degree

Aaron Castillo of Hilo was among more than 625 master’s and doctoral degree recipients during commencement ceremonies May 25 in the Byron Recreation Complex at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa. Graduates honored included those who completed their degree requirements in August and December of 2018, as well as January and May of this year. Castillo earned a master of accountancy degree in accountancy.

Greco Hiranaka graduates from University of Scranton

Cannon D. Greco Hiranaka of Waimea was among more than 850 bachelor’s and associate’s degree recipients during commencement May 26 for the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa., at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Greco Hiranaka earned a bachelor of science degree in exercise science. Graduates receiving degrees included those who completed their program requirements in August and December of 2018, as well as January and May of this year.

Laros named to the dean’s list

Dean’s list status, awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses, was granted to Janelle Laros of Kailua-Kona for the spring 2019 semester at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

Attenasio earns bachelor’s degree

Alexandra Attenasio of Hilo graduated with a bachelor of science degree in animal sciences during commencement ceremonies May 19 at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt. The university conferred degrees this year to an estimated 3,275 graduates.
