Police have charged a 56-year-old Pahoa man with drug and firearms offenses stemming from a search warrant at a Puna residence.

On May 24, shortly after 6 a.m., Hilo Vice detectives executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on Coconut Drive in Ainaloa.

According to police, officers found 1.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 120 grams of dried marijuana and two glass smoking pipes. Also recovered were three firearms, police said.

Jarret McAtee Sr. was taken into custody and later charged with three counts each of methamphetamine possession and drug paraphernalia, one court of second-degree marijuana possession and three counts of prohibited possession of firearms.

McAtee made his initial court appearance Tuesday. Hilo District Judge Harry Freitas denied McAtee’s request for supervised release, maintained his bail at $21,500 and ordered McAtee to appear at 2 p.m. today for a preliminary hearing.
