The alternative folk pop sensation and two-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners Streetlight Cadence (SLC) will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Kahilu Theatre.

As seen on the KFVE-TV Show “Will Play For Food,” band members Jonathon Franklin (violin), Jesse Shiroma (accordion), Brian Webb (cello) and Benjamin Chai (percussion) got their start in 2010 on the historic streets of Waikiki on Oahu. What began as a means for college students to pay for groceries has grown into a full-time career for this group of friends. The band has spent the last 9 years honing their craft as lauded songwriters and entertainers.

Although they come from a strict classical background of musical performance, the men of SLC are anything but your typical quartet. Streetlight Cadence brings nearly a decade of experience and has been honored with two successive Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Alternative Album of the Year as well as a handful of Battle of the Band competitions. Driven by their infectious storytelling and whimsicality, Streetlight Cadence has made its mark on Hawaii’s musical landscape, performing at every venue imaginable — from local cafes and restaurants to televised stadium shows, destination weddings and high-profile corporate events.

Now based out of Southern California, they continue their story on stages across the country and beyond. The band members have been known to demonstrate an enormous love for music and friendship in their live performances and are often described as “fun-loving and energetic.”

Their classical instruments, family-friendly brand, and storytelling-songwriting style attract audiences of all ages.

Tickets for the Saturday, June 29, show are $28 and can be purchased at kahilutheatre.org, 885-6868 or at the Kahilu Theatre Box Office located at 67-1186 Lindsey Road, Waimea.
