Firearms no longer registered at Pahoa police station

Until further notice, the processing of firearm permits and registration will no longer be done at the Puna police station in Pahoa.

The public will be notified when these operations resume, police said in a statement Tuesday.

The following is a list of stations, hours of operation and contact numbers for locations around the county that may assist with firearms permitting and registration:

• Hilo, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Firearms importations (registrations from out of state) are processed on weekdays, excluding holidays, only during the hours of 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Call 961-2239.

• Laupahoehoe, by appointment only, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 962-2120.

• Honokaa, by appointment only, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 775-7533.

• Waimea, by appointment only, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 887-3080.

• Kapaau, by appointment only, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 889-6540.

• Kailua-Kona, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 326-4646, ext. 285.

• Naalehu, by appointment only, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 939-2520.
