Howard Kalani Alapai Sr., 78, of Puuanahulu died May 13 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, owner of Westside Trucking Co., Puuwaa Ranch hand and member of Natural High softball team and Operating Engineers Union Local 3. Celebration of life 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Puuanahulu Recreation Center. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Mary Alapai of Puuanahulu; sons, Howard Alapai Jr. and Kaleo (Lynell) Alapai of Puuanahulu, Shane (Mercy) Alapai of Denver, Alika (Grace) Alapai of Puuanahulu; daughters, Selena Alapai of Puuanahulu and Anne (Rodney) Hose of Holualoa; hanai sons, Puggy (Malia) Gaspar of Napoopoo and Joe Padillio of Kailua-Kona; brothers, George Alapai and Howard K.K. Edward Fuk Loy Chang, 94, of Hilo died April 15 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he was retired purchasing agent for the former C. Brewer & Co., U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran, Hilo Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido instructor and member of several golf clubs. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Michael (Cathie) Chang of Hilo; sister, Frances Sherrard of Hilo; brother, Harold Chang of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Maureen Chang of Honolulu; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Donna Mamie Hara, 55, of Arlington, Va., formerly of Kohala, died May 1. She was a surgical nurse at the former Hilo Hospital and Kohala Hospital, worked at the George Washington Medical/Surgical Unit and George Washington Health Plan and was a hospice nurse at Capital Caring. Celebration of life 4 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington. No flowers. Memorial donations to Mokupapa Discovery Center, 76 Kamehameha Ave., Hilo, HI. Survived by husband, Michael Hara; sister, Darlene (Abel) Maldonado; half-brother, Dwayne Rodgers; mother-in-law, Marian Hara; brother-in-law, Kevin (Norma) Hara; other family.

Reid Kepaa, 62, of Hilo died March 28 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was an Army National Guard veteran. Private service held. Online condolences: homelanimemorialpark.com. Gloria D. Paquette, 93, of Laupahoehoe died April 24 in San Jose, Calif. Born in Paauilo, she was a homemaker, gardener and member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass and interment held. Survived by daughter, Celeste (Denny) Lahr of San Jose; son, Edward (Milinda) Paquette of Spokane, Wash.; sisters, Eva (Harvey) Auna of Waddell, Ariz., and Judith Akina of Waimea; sisters-in-law, Minnie DeCambra of Honolulu and Lucille Lacourse of Tynsboro, Mass.; brother-in-law, Real (Joy) Paquette of Alabama; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Patricia V. Pampo, 78, of Oxnard, Calif., formerly of Honokaa, died April 19 in Oxnard. Born in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, she retired from Whaler’s General Store (Food Pantry) in Waikoloa, was a certified tax preparer and loved fishing, the beach and Las Vegas. Memorial service at a later date at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Survived by son, Patrick A. (Ana) Pampo of Oxnard; daughters, Shirley A.P. (Bryce) Hirayama of Hillsboro, Ore., and Jadelyn T. (Ziad “Ziggy” Ibrahim) Pampo of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sisters, Jean Santander of Honokaa, Edda Santander and Doris (Joey) Campit of Manila, Philippines; seven grandchildren; nieces, a nephew and cousins.

Jacqueline Leilani “Skylark” Rossetti, 65, of Hilo died March 20 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a radio personality, former television co-host of the Merrie Monarch Festival and co-founder of the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. Public visitation noon Saturday, June 1, at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. Celebration of life at 1:30 p.m. Survived by longtime companion, Kimo Laau; children; Imaka (Megan) Lindsey, Kilohana (Carlos) Lindsey and Makana (Kaylah) Rossetti-Ota; six grandchildren.
