A 38-year-old Waikoloa man suffered severe injuries following a collision between a sedan and a motorcycle Thursday at the intersection of Waikoloa Road and Uluwehi Street.

The victim has been identified as Jessie Lee Stacy.

Officers responding to a 5:16 p.m. call determined that a white 2018 Nissan Altima driven by a 61-year-old California man was making a left turn from Waikoloa onto Uluwehi when it collided with Stacy’s westbound blue 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Stacy was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital in critical condition. He was later airlifted to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu for further treatment. The driver of the Nissan and his 60-year-old woman passenger were not injured in the collision. Police don’t think speed or alcohol are factors in the collision.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a Negligent Injury investigation and is asking for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Officer Jason Foxworthy at 326-4646, ext. 229. Those who prefer to anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
