Slew of camps at Hilo Armory

Hilo Armory is accepting registration for the following summer sports camps.

Each has a fee of $60 per session, including activity fees and beach excursions.

Pee Wee Basketball Camp, June 13–July 18

Ages: 6-8

When: 8-9:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays

Materials: Gym shoes and water bottle

Pickleball Camp, June 13–July 18

When: 9:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday and Thursdays

Materials: Gym shoes & water bottle

Beginners Tennis Camp, June 13–July 18

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays; ages 6-8 session, 12:30-2 p.m.; 9-12 session, 2-3:30 p.m.

Beginners to Advanced Volleyball Camp, June 12–July 19

When: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays; ages 6-8 session, 8-9:30 a.m.; 9-14 session, 10 a.m.-noon; advanced session, 12:30-3 p.m.

Waiakea volleyball meet and greet Sunday

The Waiakea girls volleyball program will have a meet-and-greet potluck from noon-2 p.m. Sunday at Waiakea’s gym, and all incoming ninth-graders and students in grades 9-12 interested in signing up for the annual summer open gym and conditioning program are invited to attend.

This is a potluck for the entire family, so bring a favorite potluck item.

All students must be registered at Waiakea High and have a current sports physical to participate.

There will be a preregistration done for all those interested in the voluntary summer workout, and the meet-and-greet provides an opportunity to talk with the coaching staff and student-athletes who participated in the previous year.

Boxing invitational June 1

The Hawaii Police Activities League and the Hawaii International Boxing Club will hold a boxing invitational at the Panaʻewa Park gymnasium, 100 Ohuohu St. in Hilo

Coaches who are interested in entering athletes who are registered with USA Boxing and are ages 8-17, contact Officer Kaeo Drummondo at 961-8121.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and entry is free.
