Moon named to Emerson College spring dean’s list
Anna Moon of Kailua-Kona was named to the Emerson College (Boston) dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. Moon is majoring in publishing and is a member of the class of 2021. The requirement to make Emerson’s dean’s list is a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.
Payne graduates from Berea College
Alyssa Payne of Waimea graduated with a bachelor of arts degree May 5 at Berea College in Kentucky.
Halliwell named to Berea dean’s list
Brianna Halliwell of Kailua-Kona was named to spring 2019 dean’s list at Berea College. A student is named to the dean’s list by achieving a GPA of 3.4 or higher while passing at least four total credits, a course load equivalent to 16 semester hours.
Price-Friend to study in Borneo
Lindsay Price-Friend of Kailua-Kona, a current master’s student in the Global Field Program through Miami University’s Project Dragonfly, will travel to Borneo.
Price-Friend will study Borneo’s primate denizens, including the orangutan, and develop new ways to engage communities worldwide in primate conservation.
Price-Friend works as a SCUBA instructor at Kona Diving Company.

Island students graduate from Cedarville University
Students from the Big Island graduated during the 123rd annual commencement exercises May 4 at Cedarville University in Ohio.
Elizabeth Harkness of Pahoa and Amanda Jensen of Kailua-Kona both graduated with bachelor of science degrees in nursing.
Nakoa-Oness named to Graceland University dean’s list
The honor roll lists for the spring 2019 term at Graceland University in Iowa were recently announced, and Isaiah Nakoa-Oness of Hilo was named to the dean’s list.
Graceland University students with a GPA between 3.25 and 3.64 are named to the dean’s list.
Harris named to Eastern Oregon University dean’s list
Eastern Oregon University in Oregon named 570 students to the dean’s list for the 2018-19 winter term. Anita Harris of Pahoa was one of those honored. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded EOU coursework.
