Arletta Lei Branco, 80, of Volcano died March 20 in Sacramento, Calif. Born in Hilo, she was employed by the Hawaii Visitors Bureau. She also was an organizer for the Merrie Monarch Festival and Big Island Women In Travel. Visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Haili Congregational Church. Service at 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments. Hawaiian attire. Survived by husband, Charles Branco of Hilo; daughter, Sonia Branco of Sacramento; sister, Jewell (Kenneth) Wood of Idaho; brother, Charles K. (Glenna) Bell Jr. of Kona; a granddaughter.

Linus Tze-Hsiu Chao, 89, of Mountain View died May 1. Born in Jinan, China, he was an artist and art professor at Hawaii Community College. Private services held. Survived by wife, Jane Chao of Mountain View; daughters, Grace Chao of Mountain View, Ann (Marc Bulterys) Chao of San Diego and Mary (Ole Bent Rye) Chao Rye of Palo Alto, Calif.; son, Peter Chao of Santa Monica, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Roy Tsuneo Hinokawa, 92, of Hilo died April 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a retired chief warrant officer for the Hawaii Army National Guard, and a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He also was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, American Legion Post No. 3, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, Big Island National Guard Retirees Association and National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 2126. Visitation from 10-11 a.m. Sunday, May 19, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Terilyn (Dean) Kubo of Hilo and Ly-Ann (Shoji) Takemura of Saitama, Japan; brother, Harry Hinokawa of San Francisco; caregiver, Carlina Fernandez of Hilo; a grandson; nieces and nephews. Frederick Ronald Machado, 73, of Volcano died April 23 at home. Born on Oahu, he was retired City and County of Honolulu engine technician, board member of Cooper Center, honorary member of Rotary Club of Volcano and a Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Celebration of life 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Cooper Center in Volcano. Casual attire. Elaine Yachie Soga, 91, of Hilo died April 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, she was a retired office manager for the former Bishop Insurance Agency.
