Hawaii Police Department reports that 40th Avenue in Puna’s Orchidland Estates subdivision is closed between Pikake and Oliana streets due to a police investigation.

According to Puna Patrol Division Capt. John Briski, shots were fired at an individual but no one was injured. The closure is to allow officers and detectives to gather evidence.

No time frame was given as to the how long the road will remain closed.
